Proverbs 27:17 says, "Iron sharpens iron, so a friend
sharpens a friend."

This scripture uses a practical truth about sharpening iron, to teach a spiritual truth about our relationships with others. When iron blades are rubbed together, each becomes sharper and thus more effective. Just as God used Elijah to sharpen Elisha, and Mary to sharpen Elizabeth; God continues to use His children to encourage, empower and sharpen each other on their spiritual journey. The purpose of the Iron–Sharpens–Iron Bible Study is to be sharpened and to sharpen each other.

Read a few verses at a time. For each of those verses, ask yourself: Who is speaking, what is the context, what does it say, what does it mean, and how does it apply to my life?

It is God's will that we relate to him on an intimate level. Prayer is a relationship, wherein we humbly communicate, worship, and sincerely seek God's face. Our battles are won or lost on bended knees.
